Pac Striders Weekend Run, Sun Oct 14, 8:30, Briones

Hi Everyone,
We are wishing Amy a good self-powered journey in the San Jose half marathon. This means I will take on sole (or is that SOUL) coordinator duties.

This week we are honoring a request from one of our faithful (lord knows we want to keep those two happy!) by returning to Briones Regional Park. Unique among our runs, this one puts us squarely in the chaparral east of the bay ridge foothills. It is a pleasant change from our usual coastal forest runs, with great views of Mount Diablo. Water and bathrooms at the start only.

Directions
From Highway 24 in Contra Costa County, exit Moraga/Orinda. Coming from Oakland, you will turn left at the stoplight. Coming from Walnut Creek you will turn right toward Orinda Village. Continue north on Camino Pablo Road for about 2 miles. Turn right onto Bear Creek Road (at the same intersection Wildcat Canyon Rd. is your left turn). Drive on Bear Creek about 4 miles, to the park entrance on the right side of the road. (continue past the well marked EBMUD staging area on the left, the park entrance is up the road another 1/4 mile). After passing the entrance kiosk, continue straight to the parking lot.

There is a $5 parking fee if the kiosk is open, but lots of places are available to park along Bear Creek Rd near the turn into the park. You can park along the road and run in (1/2 mile or so).

Hope to see you Sunday,
Mike
