Hi Everyone,
It looks like your loyal coordinators will both be at the XC race at Golden Gate Park Sunday, so we leave it to you to make your way around the 9 mile loop that rings Lake Chabot. Meet near the bathrooms at the Marina. There is a parking fee for the marina lot, however free parking is available on Lake Chabot Rd.
Run counter clockwise around the lake (Starting on East Shore trail). About 1.75 miles out (and just after the asphalt ends), look for stairs down to a bridge on your left. Take a left off the bridge onto Honker Bay Trail and you will begin to loop back around the lake. If you see the golf course, you've missed the bridge! Continue on Honker Bay and climb the hill. Near the top you will see Columbine Trail on your left. Follow Columbine to the bottom and you will reach a creek crossing. Right past the creek you will leave Columbine to turn left on Bass Cove Trail. Follow Bass Cove Trail and you will come back along the lake to the paved West Shore Trail. A left on West Shore brings you back to the Marina.
Directions: To reach the marina entrance from points east, take I-580 westbound to the Strobridge Avenue exit in Castro Valley. Turn right on Strobridge, right on Castro Valley Boulevard, and left on Lake Chabot Road. The Lake Chabot Marina is about two miles ahead on the right.
From I-880 take I-238 eastbound to I-580 eastbound, exit at Redwood Road in Castro Valley and go left, go left at Castro Valley Boulevard, and right at Lake Chabot Road. The Lake Chabot Marina is about two miles ahead on the right.
From I-580 in Oakland, proceed east and exit at 150th Ave. / Fairmont Drive. Go straight at the first stoplight at the end of the off-ramp and turn left at the second stoplight to proceed east on Fairmont (uphill). Keep going straight where Fairmont merges into Lake Chabot Rd. and the Marina entrance will be on your left.
Enjoy your weekend.
