Pac Striders Weekend Run, Sun March 25, 8:30, Grass Valley

Hello Everyone,
Someone asked where the run was going to be this weekend, so we asked where would you like it. Back came the excellent suggestion of Grass Valley. After starting down Jackson Grade we descend to Grass Valley Creek on the beautiful Cascade Trail (we'll see if there is much of a cascade) and Columbine Trail. Ascending up the other side on Columbine, we should get some lovely views of Bass Cove and Lake Chabot. At the top of Columbine we turn left onto Honker Bay Trail, through the campground (water and bathrooms), then take Towhee and Brandon Trails to the Stone Bridge and the final ascent up Jackson Grade to complete the route.

I did say we, but the only way I could complete this loop right now is by riding one of the horses from the stables at the staging area! So shorter options are available.

Directions

The run is located in the northern portion of Lake Chabot Park, which is accessed from the 98th Ave. / Golf Links Road exit of I-580. Heading east, take a left off the exit, heading West take a right (i.e, head toward the hills!). Golf Links Road is just to the left of the zoo entrance in the five way intersection. Head up Golf Links Road, it will become a divided road for a while and then emerge in a residential neighborhood. Shortly thereafter you will reach a fork where the you proceed straight onto Grass Valley Road, not right to remain on Golf Links Road. The road then takes a 90 degree turn to the left, where it becomes Skyline Blvd. At that turn you will notice a dirt parking lot off to the right where we will meet.Enjoy the rest of the week,Mike
