We had a special request from a Berkeley alum for a once-around the lake, and admittedly we've been overdue for a Lake Chabot run. So here it is, just in time for the long Fourth of July weekend (long at least for some of us). Parking on Lake Chabot Rd. outside the park is free, versus the lot; just remember to jog towards the bathrooms near the docks, where we usually meet. The full route around the lake is 9 miles. The only convenient water stop is at the beginning, so you may want to bring some for the trails.
DIRECTIONS: *I-580 East (Oakland/Berkeley) Exit Fairmont Avenue. Drive East to
park entrance on the left.
*I-580 West (Livermore/Dublin) Exit Strobridge Avenue. Turn right on Strobridge. Turn right on Castro Valley Blvd. Turn left on Lake Chabot Road to park entrance on right.
*I-680 South (Walnut Creek) Take I-680 South to I-580 West. Follow directions above for 1-580 West.
*1-880 North (Fremont/San Jose) I-880 North to Hwy. 238 East. Exit Castro Valley. Left on Castro Valley Blvd. Left on Lake Chabot Road to park entrance on right.
