Pac Striders Oct 29, 8:30am - Strawberry Canyon (& Daylight Savings ends)

Hi Striders, I just noticed that we haven't visited Strawberry Canyon for a while, so that will be the call for this weekend. It's an out-and-back loop starting behind UC Berkeley's campus, mostly gradual uphill on the outset (except for Cardiac Hill). We'll meet at the swimming pool parking lot about 1/4 mile from the trailhead.

Don't forget that Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend, so set your clocks back 1 hour on Saturday night. Have a happy Halloween!

DIRECTIONS: Access to Strawberry Canyon is off Centennial Rd., east of UC Berkeley main campus, in the hills just behind the campus. From I-80, exit at University Avenue. Proceed east on University Avenue then turn left on Oxford. Turn right on Hearst and go up the hill, then turn right on Gayley. Turn left at the stop sign onto Stadium Rim Way. and left again on Centennial Dr., which proceeds eastward up the hill from the back side of the stadium. In a half mile or so, there will be a small dirt parking lot on the right with nothing around it. Turn into this lot, which is where the trailhead is located. Parking is limited, so carpool with others if you can.

From Hwy. 13, exit at Ashby Ave. Proceed on Ashby, then turn right on College. Turn right onto Dwight Way, go up the hill and turn left onto Prospect. Proceed around the stadium (to your left) to the first stop sign. Turn right onto Centennial Drive, go straight for about a half mile and pull into the dirt parking lot on your right. Centennial Drive is also accessible from Grizzly Peak Boulevard (head south towards UC Berkeley).
