Holy smokes, it's October already? Well then, since we're starting off with a fresh new month, let's go with a run that was recently featured but was sadly ill-attended. However, as an added bonus, our very own women's team captain Malia will bring her spunk and energy as guest host.
We're starting again from the Lone Oak picnic area, located in the parking area across from the now-empty Pony Rides (adjacent to the Tilden Nature center). Starting here adds the Bike Loop, for an out-and-back run up to 10 miles (with the option to finish early at the Tilden Nature Center).
DIRECTIONS:
From I-580 or Hwy. 24, take Hwy. 13 into Berkeley (takes you onto Ashby). Go straight on Ashby, then turn left on Shattuck. Turn right on University Ave, left on Oxford, right on Rose, left on Spruce. Follow Spruce all the way up until you reach the intersection of Spruce and Grizzly Peak Road. Cross the intersection, then make an immediate left down Canon Drive. Go straight through the intersection and take an immediate left onto Canon Dr. Turn right at the stop sign onto Central Park Dr., then make the first left into the parking lot and drive all the way in to Lone Oak picnic area.
From I-80E, take the Albany/Buchanan Ave. exit; turn left at the stop sign which will put you on a road that you follow for about .25 miles where it curves around a bit and puts you on Buchanan. Once on Buchanan, your head toward the hills. After crossing San Pablo, Buchanan becomes Marin Ave. Stay on Marin. At one point you will hit a traffic circle. Go half way around and turn up the hill to stay on Marin. Turn left on Spruce and continue until the stop sign at the intersection with Grizzley Peak Rd. Go straight through the intersection and take an immediate left onto Canon Dr. Turn right at the stop sign onto Central Park Dr., then make the first left into the parking lot and drive all the way in to Lone Oak picnic area.
From I-80W, the west, take the Albany/Buchanan Ave. exit. Turn right at the stop light puts you on Buchanan. Once on Buchanan, follow the same directions above for I-80 E.
