Pac Striders Weekend Run, Sun Dec 18, 8:30 Skyline Trail from Skyline Gate

Greetings Everyone,
As exciting as the weekend run is, this weekend it will be eclipsed easily by John and Malia's wedding. Congratulations to the nicest couple ever to win the Couple's Relay.

You can burn off your hangover the next morning on the Skyline National Recreation Trail between Redwood and Sibley Regional Park. We will do an out and back from Skyline Gate to or past Sibley. There are many options for distance. Our usual choice is out and back on Skyline Trail to the gate past Sibley, which is around 8 miles total. Fish Ranch Road is 10 miles round trip. A loop around Round Top at Sibley is a 7 mile keyhole route that also takes out a little of the hill work. The run is fairly hilly with a good amount of single track running. Bathrooms and water at the Sibley parking lot. If the small chance of rain turns into a large amount of water, we will have Bayview trail as an alternate route.

DIRECTIONS: Skyline Gate can be reached from the Park Ave. exit off Highway 13 in Oakland. Heading north on 13, turn left at the stop sign at the end of the ramp onto Mountain Blvd. Turn right at the second light onto Snake Rd. Heading south on 13, take a left at the stoplight at the end of the ramp onto Park Ave., a left at the light onto Mountain Blvd., and a right onto Snake Rd. Proceed on Snake Rd. and go straight onto Shepherd Canyon Rd. where Snake takes a sharp left. Proceed up Shepherd Canyon (watch for the sharp hairpin right) until you reach a five way intersection at which you have a stop sign. Turn right onto Skyline Blvd. and look for the Skyline Gate parking lot 0.5 miles on your left.Have a good weekend,Mike
